This week I’m away. I’m staying at a Buddhist monastery which I am seriously excited about. If you like this post please restack it so that it doesn’t simply vanish into the ever growing sea of posts on Substack only to be consigned to the depths and forever forgotten. I really do appreciate the support. I will reply to any comments late next week at some point. Thanks in advance!
The long deep darkness Engulfs radiance within Light comes once again
Tapestry of stars Exhaling suspended breath Cold light for dark skies
The lines deepening Tell of the words in between Interwoven tales
Cat, I feel your stress Unanswered questions burning It always takes two
Fragile is this life Of a billion heartbeats Still, sturdy we live
We all want firewood But can make no space for trees Our own death sentence
70s record Spinning on the turntable It’s older than me
Blue guitar of mine Even silent you are art That tree speaks through you
That paisley guitar She sings the sweetest of songs Of a life so full
That paisley guitar Sings songs of many colours Melancholy sweet
The paisley guitar that inspired not one, but two haiku…
This selection of haiku was written at the beginning of the year in January. Haiku was never a form of writing I really thought too much about until it came up in Beth Kempton’s Winter Writing Sanctuary, since then I’ve enjoyed it greatly. I didn’t realise I had written so many in only a few months so I decided to work in chronological order to save myself the headache of only picking a select few from many to post.
Thank you for reading this post and please remember to restack it if you enjoyed it!
